Declaration of Liability & Conditions of Participation
Alpine dangers
I hereby agree that my participation in a SAAC event (winter or summer) involves moving on alpine terrain, the natural dangers of which SAAC and its mountain and bike guides can never exclude entirely, even when observing all stipulated precautions and protective measures.
Alpine dangers primarily result from:
- Snow and ice avalanches, which may result in burial
- Ice and rock fall from surrounding catchment area
- Crevasses and related falls
- Poor visibility and possible accidents resulting from this
- Runs or climbs through the woods, involves risks of injury (i.e. collisions with trees, getting caught on roots and branches, falling in a tree well)
- Unfavourable weather conditions (cold and wind, which may lead to hypothermia and frostbite)
- Difficulties with the rescue and salvage operations due to the terrain
I confirm that I am equipped according to the SAAC equipment list (winter: avalanche transceiver, probe, shovel, rucksack; - climbing: helmet, sit harness, rope, karabiners, back-up device, rucksack; - bike: full-suspension bike in ideal conditions with 2.25 inch tires or wide, serviced disc brakes, sturdy half bowl helmet, knee protectors) and will follow the instructions from the (executive) mountain or bike guides, adapt my behaviour on the mountain to these instructions and only leave the group after consulting and in agreement with the mountain or bike guide.
